The February Ball

The Jane Austen Dancers, Bath are pleased to announce their February Ball at the Assemby Room, Devizes Town Hall, on Saturday, 18th February, 2012 from 7.30pm to 11.00 pm

The programme of Dances will include Round Dances, Longways Country Dances, Cotillions, Quadrilles and a Grand March. These will all be called. However, the complexities of a Quadrille are impossible to teach at a ball, so it is important that all Quadrille participants be familiar with the steps and figures beforehand.

The Music for dancing comes from original sources and will be played by the Regency Belles, led by Sue Law. Period Costume from 1795 to 1820, or appropriate evening dress, should be worn. Dancers are advised to wear flat non-slip shoes. No stiletto heels are allowed. There will be some limited changing space.

During the interval a light Buffet Supper will be served downstairs in the Cheese Hall. Water will be provided throughout the evening and drinks may be purchased from the bar. Due to licensing restrictions we regret that guests may not bring their own drinks.

Tickets cost £40 per person. Advance bookings will be held in order of their receipt. Tickets will be sent out from January 2012.

There will be no Dance Workshop prior to the Ball. If you need to familiarise yourself with the dances of this period, you will be warmly welcomed at: the Jane Austen Dancers, Bath and Bradford on Avon; the Devizes Regency Group; the Hampshire Regency Dancers, Winchester; the Quadrille Club, London; the Regency Assembly, Lichfield.
